Default There is probably something in the archives, but ...

it is a very simple process. Use a hair dryer and hold it a few inches away from the badge. Move it back and forth for a few miutes so you don't heat one section too much. Then, use string or something similar (those plastic bands that wrap furniture boxes are very good) to slowly pry the badges away. Then, clean the area and wax. Good as new.
Oh, and you can still tell what is under the hood: chrome trim is 2.8, no chrome ... 1.8t.
Jon
'96 A4q

Default This procedure scratched my trunk lid

I followed the instructions (btw, check the archives, pal) to the letter and ended up with scratches on the hood. Reason: the glue of my badges didn't go off with wd-40. I ended up using some gentle nailpolish remover, very very quickly with immediate rinse. I tried the solvent on a piece of paint that's not visible to make sure it won't take the paint along with it.
- Stan
