Detailing
1. A nice big bucket, different from any other, so she knows it's mine!
2. Meguiar's Soft Gel Car Wash
3. Lambs Wool wash mitt
4. Crappy Poly wheel mitt
5. Good hose nozzle with jet, spray, and shower settings
6. 3 sq.ft. Chamois (not too big, not too small, jusssssst right)
7. 5" Random Orbital Buffer
8. 9" Random Orbital Buffer
9. MANY terry cloth bonnets
10. MANY terry cloth detailing towels
11. One old, ratty bath towel for door jams and sills
12. Applicator pads. I color code mine with magic marker on the edge that matches the color of the bottle for which product it is used.
13. Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover. This is a combination Cleaner and Polish and is great as a combination product, but if the surface doesn't need cleaning, see #15.
14. Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze. This is a pure polish that I was hoping would shine even more deeply than #9. It didn't.
15. 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. After reading all the raves about this product, I had to try it. THEY WERE RIGHT! This stuff completely removed all swirls and gave my paint an otherworldly depth and gloss. It literally looked better than new! This is the only product I apply by hand, but I still use the buffer for removal. DO NOT use in humid environment or it'll be hell to buff out. Highly recommended for all finishes, but the darker the stage, the more amazing its magic.
16. Meguiar's #6 Cleaner Wax. This is an awesome 3-in-1 product that combines steps 2-4. I use it on the months I don't do a full detail. It's a good way to keep a little shine and a little wax on the car between "real" waxings.
17. Meguiar's Gold Class Paste Wax. Formerly my favorite wax, it's easy to put on, easy to take off, lasts long and protects well. However, everything that it does well..........
18. One Grand Blitz Wax does better. This stuff ROCKS!! This has to be the best car wax in the world, or at least the best "regular" wax in the world, I mean how many of us really need a $500 can of Zymol Concours Wax?
19. Lexol Leather Cleaner
20. Lexol Leather Conditioner
21. Vinylex by Lexol
22. Eagle One 20/20 Glass Cleaner
23. Eagle Nevr-Dull all-metal polish
24. 3M Rubber & Tire Dressing
25. Goo-Gone
26. Touch-Up Paint from the auto manufacturer. DON'T buy the color-copy stuff at Wal-Mart or Schucks. It's usually a poor color match and it's cheap paint to boot. A bottle of correct paint will cost more, but it's worth it.
Most of this stuff can be had at either Wal-Mart or your local auto-parts store. Some however will have to be ordered online. I personally like carcareonline.com and autosupermart.com
