Diagnostic problems...ideas?

My air bag light has been on all week, so I took the car into my local foriegn auto servicer to diagnose the problem. He said that the diagnostic tool is not communicating with the car, and is reading NO codes. I had an aftermarket radio put in about 3 weeks ago but specifically told the professional installer not to hook up the K-wire. He agreed and and seemed to be aware of the problem already, so I really don't think this is the cause. Any ideas of what the problem may be and steps to fix it? Info appreciated.

Did you cut power to the car (unplug battery) at any point before the light came on?

No, not unless ...

...it was done during the radio or speaker install, but I don't think it was.

Since they wouldn't have thought to reset this, I'd bet they didn't unplug your battery...

I was suspect of this because I had an airbag light problem after I replaced my battery. It acted different, though. It would stay on for a few minutes in really cold weather and start blinking at a quicker pace until the car got to a certain point in warming up, then went out. This only happened in cold weather and the warmer it was, the quicker this entire process was. My shop told me that the battery being unplugged can cause that and after they reset the light, it never came back. Sorry to waste your time with an irrelevant story.
