Yes I did search, and really didn't find too much of a clear answer. I like the looks of the 18's. I live in nw new jersey and the roads are some where in the middle between good and bad. 225/40/18 vs. 225/45/17 if I were to go with a 17" tire. Doesn't seem like it's too much of a sidewall change.

Default 17's are still pretty big, when lowered compared to 90% of the cars on the road..

if you lower the car they look really good..

plus you get a little more cushion of air to ride on, with a thicker tire...

more cushion for the pushin!

Default I owned 17's, sold em and bought 18's.

The sidewall of the 45's i had just looked too thick and the wheels just didn't seem big enough. Trading up was probably one of the better decisions i've made with my car.

Default If you're willing to deal with bent wheels, and a little more "road feel" go for 18's.

Most people are attracted to the looks of 18's (vs. 17's). Visually, that 1" makes an impact. Performance-wise...both are good...this really isn't a good way to justify this decision...it really is about looks.

Default well bending any wheel is really relative to the construction. Although the general concensus is

that larger wheels(diam) will bend quicker than the same wheel of smaller diameter. I will put my replicas up against almost any 17" wheel as far as structural strength.
