Driver-side door lock issue

When I lock the car with the key in the driver side door, it just locks the driver side door. When I lock the car with the key in the passenger side door, it locks all locks and arms the alarm. The driver side lock used to do the right thing until one day when I felt something come loose or break when I was locking the car.

I initially thought that it was in the door lock and took that out this weekend and figured out that the problem wasn't there.

I now suspect what is called the "coupling plate" in the Bentley manual (page T57-9). It rotates with the lock tumbler and has a toothed gear that engages with a microswitch. However, I can't find it in the wiring schematic for the central locking system and I would like to confirm that this is what I should be looking at before tearing the door apart again.

Anyone here have experience in this area? For what it is worth, my car is a late 97.

You will need to replace the microswitch itself. 8D0-959-985 costs $88.12 MSRP.

Do you know where the microswitch is in the schematics?

Are you sure on the part no?

Looked at ETKA and the part number looks like the door handle microswitch. In addition to the latch closed microswitch and the coupler lock cylinder position microswitch, there is also one that indicates that door handle has been lifted.
