ECU codes and chipping.
My ecu code is 4B0 906 018 P which (according to a lot of other posts) should be a 2000 1.8t quattro manual... well, its a 2000 1.8t but its FWD. Will the replacement 4B0 906 018 P from APR work in my car?
A friend is selling his car and he has an ecu for sale (the P code) that matches my cars ecu code, but will it work? Just figured I'd check and see if anyone has any insight before I waste 500$
Then, when you put the new ECU in, you'll have to change it's soft codes to match what was on your original ECU. That's it! As long as the part number matches (4B0 906 018 P) then you should be ok with just the soft code changes!
P.S. soft codes contain switches telling the ECU whether you have quattro/manual, tip/manual, ESP or not.. and maybe other things. The part number is NOT the soft codes.
