Default ECU question

I have a 01'1.8TQMS chipped , exhaust , and i recently added a forge diverter valve. My ecu has not been reseted since i got the chip. Should I reset the ecu? Will My computer adapt to the upgrades?

Unplug the ECU for a minute or two. Plug it back in and your re-set...

should i unplug the battery or the ecu and will it make any difference by reseting the ecu?

You're really not resetting anything. In older cars you had to reset the throttle butterfly once you unplugged the ECU. You did this by turning the key to the accessory mode and letting the car sit for about 2 minutes. This allows the throttle sensor to "map" the sweep. With 2000 and newer cars that are DBW this step is not necessary. Unpluging the battery WILL cause a fault in the system but won't effect performance. It will just show up on your service report the next time your car is hooked up the the VAG. Basically your ready to go.

Dont 2001's have adaptive ecu's?

Default You must do the throttle body adaptation with a 2001...(more)

2 minutes in the "on" position, and then most people say 2 more minutes after you've started it, without going anywhere. When the key is just in the "on" position, you can here the stuff whirring and whining.
