Electrical Problems

Hey guys, I was just driving tonite and all of a sudden the lights on my dash went really dim and then got normal and went dim and this continued for a few minutes and now it is back to normal, I was wondering if you guys think it is serious or if it is just a slight fluke. I have a 99 2.8 A4. Thanks!

alternator, was it only the dash or all the lights?

what does your volt meter say? does it change with revs? should be around 14

Even turned all the way down, dash lights are still pretty bright -- can they go dimmer yet or off?
