Engine Longevity???

I've had my 2000 Avant 1.8t since new...now 124,000 miles. I've done all the regular maintenance, etc. along with the basic engine mods (chip,diverter,mount). How long can I expect this motor to keep running strong before I have to rebuild? Any comments would be appreciated.

I have a 1995 non-Audi since new, now 155,000 miles.

Got bent valves at 112,000 because when I changed the timing belt, stupid mechanic didn't change the water pump, and when that goes, so does the timing belt. Nevertheless, new valves and a resurfaced head and the car has been running smooth since.

a couple of friends have their 1.8T's over 200, even with stage III

sure they have massive oil leaks, but as long as the engine is well filled with the right oil, they seem to last fairly long.

You'll probably be dealing with other wear and tear (or shatter) items aside from the engine

I put 410K on a 1.8 8V '85 VW engine. Nothing outside of normal maintenance

that car never left me stranded even once crisscrossing the country every which way...

Varies, 200k minimum, been a recent spout of blown motors at 200kmi, more easily possible

plus, rebuilding a tiny *** straight four is not really an economically or mechanically overbearing task either...compared to buying another car...

I was planning on keeping the 1.8T forever until I found the frame damage...

Had 192,000 miles on the '00 until it was taken out in '06 . . .

. . . and it could have gone much farther. The car was GIAC chipped at 60K. The current '01 was chipped around 80K is approaching 170,000 miles. I was trying to catch MikeO.
