engine missing while accelarating
just noticed that my 97 2.8Q is missing when I hit about 3500rpm, it is a slight miss but noticeable nontheless...Poking around the spark plugs and wires I noticed that there's a small cut on 2 of the wires, the 3 and 6. The cut is on the outside rubber jacket not on the wire itself. Is this cut sufficient to cause arcing? The car was in for service and I think some tech damaged the spark plug boots...
thanks,

I had a split in #5 wire through the insulation so the wire could be exposed if you really tried and flexed it. Somebody must have yanked on it too hard. Once filled with RTV and some electrical tape it's been fine. But I ordered a new one anyway.
While it was split, I got fairly frequent misfires, not always reported as #5 on my VAG. Kind of surprising that it could arc and cost the plug juice, but filling in the crack did stop the misfires.
If it's just the plastic sleave and not the insulation I don't see how it could arc in your case. Need some exposed wire.
