Is this engine/oil temp normal?

So my engine temp gauge normally reads just below middle or dead center. I gather that is normal.

My oil temp gauge sometimes hits 200F. I don't know if that is something to be concerned about or is it normal?

you are fine...

my oil temps hit 225F today, 95f ambient on drive home.

thanks ertman- most of the time it's below but 225F kind of freaks me out, but I

guess it's a good reason to run synthetic. Glad it's normal. btw, I think i've hit 225F at times too.

Actually that is a very good temp occasionally as it will cook off some of the water/gas most cars

get on blowby. I actually put a tank heater in mine to bring the oil temps to 212 before startup. That serves 2 purposes, it boils off contaminants and gets the oil to the best temp for startup. Between the heater and the dry sump pressurizing everything on 1st rank I have probably eliminated 60% of the normal wear to the car.

Over the boiling temp is too hot and will cause problems. IME 190 degrees is a perfect running temp..
