Engine Problem...1.8t Experts Pls. Help!!?
I have this Weird problem on my 98 1.8t A4 Quattro. I was driving on 95 when all of a sudden the engine went Shut Down. I tried starting it again while I was waiting for the Tow Truck and I noticed that It was just the Outside Belt the was Turning and there are no Crank on the Engine while I was Cranking it. Anyways at first I thought it was just my Timing Belt that has Finally Given Up. So I check the Timing Belt but I saw that it still has its Tension and While looking at it, Again I tried to Crank Up the Engine and I Confirmed that it was just the Outside belt that was turning and Not my Timing Belt. Anyone Had or Been thru the same problem I am having?? Pls. Help 1.8t Expert. Thanks Alot!!

Yup, happened to me a couple of months ago....sheered off about 15 or so teeth of the timing belt.
good luck, if you fix it yourself you can keep it under $2000 fairly easy. let me know if you have any questions.
