Engine problems....Help please!!

Here is what happened to me several times today:

my engine suddenly stalls while driving. The check engine light comes on and off goes the engine!! Happened about 3-4 times in 5 minutes mostly when I was switching gears or when taking my foot off the accelerator. the engine starts up right away and the check engin light is off.

Is there anyone out there who has seen a similar thing on his car?

Please help!

It is possible that it is bad gas - Happened very recently to some friends.

I had something similar.

It turned out to be a problem with the ECU. It was a chipped spare ECU from APR. I put the stock ECU back in and all was well. I then sent the bad ECU to APR and they re-soldered the chip and it has worked perfectly since.

Or fouled plugs, dirty fuel injectors, etc, etc.

Reggie's right too, it could be bad gas. You should check your plugs too. If you have access to VAG software, you could pull the DTC's. Otherwise, bring it to the dealer and let them take a look.

That could be it! I do have an APR chip. I will replace it with the original and see what happens

I did not upgrade my ECU but bought one from APR. How do they modify the ECUs? Do they only reprogram them or do they actually solder in a chip, like they would do with the send-in ECU conversion?
