engine update

Riverside pulled the head and it was just what they suspected...heavy deposits on a few valves (up to 1mm) that wouldn't allow them to seat properly. Timing belt was fine.

Now I'd like to ask for your help. Please read the following link. Some of you old schoolers will remember Brandon but most of you newer guys won't. He doesn't read AW anymore, but we'd like to keep this a surprise. A few of us have the right contacts and will get this into the right hands.

more "Italian tune-up" driving

however my clutch has been on the way out for a while so I've been taking it easy. Most of my driving is highway miles too. They're putting in my new clutch and TB/water pump while they're in there.

correct

since the clutch has been slipping badly I haven't been able to wail on it hard for a while now, which helps to blow out deposits.

Wow...glad they got it fixed...but that really sucks!

As far as B1B...sometime's life just isn't fair. That's for posting that link.

Several of us discovered this problem a couple of years ago.....

.....with our PES superchargers, which seem to accellerate the problem. The AoA solution of adding a fuel cleaner doesn't really address the problem, as the injectors only hit the center intake valve of each cylinder.

Oour solution was to run a solvent throught the entire plenum by drawing the solution in at the throttle body. I think Rob Andrews has a write-up on his site (www.robsaudiworld.com or something like that) There's a link on this site to his. The downside is that you WILL throw CELs like crazy, which must be cleared afterwards. The best solution to use is called "Seafoam" from several auto parts stores.

I did a write-up of sorts on the superchargedaudi.com site, which is currently down for some reason. If it comes back up, search under my screen name - KurtW, or under "cleaning".
