fault code 01176

fault code 01176
am I missing something on this site ?
search as I can I find nothing for this fault code on this site .
I know it has something to do with the key switch circuit from what I have researched.
I have a number for the replacement cable
what I do not understand is how a short piece of wire can solve this problem.
is it a poor assembly in production resulting in a high resistant joint ?
I know I am not the only owner suffering from this problem , but to find no reference to this error code 01176 on this site ?????????????

What year, model, engine car do you have? The code on the Ross Tech site says something about an immobilizer and the North American Audi A4 B5 did not come with an immobilizer so I’m thinking you are posting in the wrong forum.
