Default A few confusing problems...

First off- Every once and a while (anywhere from 2-4 weeks) my car has trouble starting, with no warning signs at all. For example the other day I stopped at the gas station ran in came out and... trouble. After I crank it for about a minute while pulsating the pedal it will finally sluggishly start then rev and come to normal idle. I have no explanation for this and I've searched high and low to no avail.

Second- If it is below 65 degrees and I am traveling anywhere over 20mph my temperature gauge will never go above C. If the temperature is below 40 you can forget it ever moving, even after a long warm up. However if its above 70 as long as I don't go over 20mph for an extended period it will warm right up, and any temps above 80 it has no trouble. I also have no explanation for this and have searched high and low. On a side note my oil temp goes to 175 180 every time hot or cold.

With ur starting problems id guess its a coolant temp sensor,
and ur temp prob, could be thermastat,
when u did the tbelt did u change t-stat? Or did u ever?
sometime coolant temp wont throw a code, but can sause starting probs, lot of info on these forums here about em

I know the coolant temp sensor would cause problems when its cold outside, but this was also happening during summer months. Would it still cause issues if it wasn't cold out? And I'll have to check my records to see if the thermostat was replaced, the guy I bought it from did the t-belt change.

Definitely start with your coolant temp sensor. Cheap easy and quick to replace and is usually the source of alot of strange problems. I wouldnt be surprised if your gauge is fixed as well, since thats an input to the cluster. Do you get heat normally within 5 mins or so? Try that, if its cold for a while you know you have coolant temp or flow issues.

Sounds like possibly a combination of the coolant temp sensors and a bad thermostat.

Thanks, I'll replace those and if the problem persist I guess I'll try again.
