Fluid mixing problem...
Wanted to see if anyone has had a problem with fluids mixing in their 1.8Ts.
The problem with my car is that it looks like oil is mixing with the coolant and even getting into the coolant reservoir. Its not a radiator problem or a blown head gasket...
Anybody with any ideas why this would be happening?

blown head or turbo gaskets...
Somewhere both fluids pass close together and there is a defect. Gaskets are the most common problem. If you have oil in the antifreeze then you may have antifreeze in the oil too.<p>2001 A4 1.8TQMS

dealer has looked at it and said that the head gasket is fine.
The were pretty baffled because the radiator was fine and the head gasket seemed fine as well.
I have heard that it could be something with the turbo charger, which goes with what you are saying about the gaskets...
Could this be caused by a chip???

leaking oil cooler
My '97 1.8TQMS was doing the same thing. The oil cooler was leaking inside the cooling system, and oil/coolant was being pushed out through the overflow. The repair cost $500, and took several days in the shop, flushing the cooling system over and over. Cheaper than a blown head gasket, though. Also, Audi reimbursed me 75% even though car was out of warranty. Get it to a dealer ASAP.

Yes, I have had a Hoppen chip since October of '97, with no problems. A blown head gasket could be related to a chip. The oil cooler is not- unless I completely misunderstand the system.

Sorry to hear that. It certainly could be a blown turbo. :-(

Call Audi and ask if they can reimburse part of the repair. They have been pretty good about doing a percentage, from what I have seen on this BB.
