Freaking Subarus...
What is it with STI drivers that makes them feel as though they need to beat a dead seal?
Driving home from the movie theater (just saw vantage point. Pretty good flick), just about to come up on my exit on 222 and this STI is in the right lane. I've got to get over to get off at my exit, but he slows down and downshifts prepping to race. He does a few acceleration bursts (followed by the obligatory PSHHHAAA of the BOV, and backfire from the poorly tuned chip)and settles in next to me. I keep my speed for a bit clearly bowing down to his awesomeness and begin to let off the gas to get behind him so I can get over for the exit.
I slow, he slows. Apparently he is getting off at the same exit. As i've got the wife in the car and clearly have no intention of racing this guy, I wait until his bumper just clears mine and I swoop directly behind him.
At the same time, the exit ramp exposed itself and we both turned into it. All I cared about is getting off at my exit. He continued to bait and egg me on as we exited onto residential streets.
I'm sure he got his little ego boost for the day, but I just don't understand it. clearly you've got a car that severely overpowers a 1.8t (that doesn't have a GT28rs or higher) and weigh only 2900 lbs. WTF?

if you use the international sign for "no" in street racer terms they will leave you be..
look over to them, pointer finger and middle finger out, you start from left in front of you and motion to the right while shaking your head no.

STi's weight 3300-3500 cheif.
That backfire you heard, was more than likely just the popping from the exhaust. Common on the EJ25 and EJ27 flat 4's.
The BOV sound could have just been from an aftermarket intake... WRX and STi guys are just like us when it comes to BOV. Their stock BPV works perfect for a handfull of BT applicatins, there is not much need to upgrade till you start putting a GT35r or bigger.
So know what you're talking about first before bashing.

STis are heavier than us, dood. EVOs are the benchmark to beat
IIRC the previous gen STi weights 3395 (autotrader), while an AWM 1.8T, depending on equipment, is claimed at 3241 (AWMG)

Don't worry Shawn, my redemption is watching one of those straight-line junkies try to autocross. It's entertaining putting the smack-down on a 400hp SRT-4 who can't find his bum with his own two hands in all his glorious wheelspin...

Yes,,,,STi drivers are wack jobs
Had 2 of them try to race me at stop lights with my Duc998.(the only 2 people EVER try to race me at traffic lights with cars)
I heard him reving...
Me-look over and rolls eyes hard...
-light turns green--
Him-working first to second gear...
( i swear he thought he could keep up or beat me)
Me-just holding next to him"teasing"
Him-shifts in to 3nd...
Me-"i have to get away from this clown"
-click in 3nd gear and go WOT, placed 20 car lengths ahead of him in 3 seconds and took the exit ramp dragging the knee....
