front mounted

is it worth buying a front mounted intercooler if you are running the factory k03? and what would be the best turbo to upgrade to?

you could...however u need a chip to make up for the pressure drop

and it will certainly help you with heat soak.

i'd actually wait until at least a K04

if you want to keep your car from being heat soaked, then yes.

especially if you live somewhere that it is always warm and humid. you will keep the horsepower that you already have and maybe even free up a couple extra ponies.
as far as the 'best' upgrade, there really isnt one. i personally would suggest APR stage 3. great power from the kit, great customer service to help w/ any problems. of course there is always a K04, the PES T28 kit. ATP's T3/T4 kit if they ever release it. it kind of boils down to personal preference i suppose. just do some research and find a company that you are comfortable dealing with.

I've got a K03 with a front mount and I don't regret doing it one bit...I can drive around all day full throttle now and maintain the same power level as my first full throttle pull.
I would recommend one thing though if your going to get a front mount don't go with APR they don't have programing for a front mount and your car will be slower with a APR chip and a front mount than a APR chip with a stock cooler...I learned the hard way had to switch to GIAC they have a chip for Front mount and a K03 (saw a hugh difference between APR and GIAC as far as power with the front mount.

P.S. I am planning on doing a K04 soon just waiting to see what happen's with the new K04-23

Anyone try...

small 12v equipment fans on the intercooler?

And why would you get a pressure drop across a good intercooler.. is it a restriction?

well seeing as apr does have a front mount and has been talking about

producing one, i am sure you can get software to work with a fmic.

h'mm that's news to me that APR has a FMIC? if you look at there site it say's coming soon and it's said comming soon for at least a year...and if APR had FMIC software I would have stuck with them instead of spending another $400.00 for a different brand chip to fix my pressure drop problem...maybe they have a FMIC program if you have their stage 3 kit...but I don't think so since they don't sell the FMIC ther'e self.
