gearbox Problem
My Audi A4 1.8M(97). Have problem with gearbox. The synthom is like this, When start the engine, I can hear aloud sound from the gearbox. According to Hynes book, the problem is cause by the worn input shaft bearing.
can someone show me the picture of it, and how to replace this input shaft bearing?

I would consider this a big job, and one that should be done by a tranny specialist
I dont like to work on trannys. At the least a good indy shop who has done them before. If you are good at DIY then pull the tranny youself and take to shop. I am not sure if special tools are reqd. or if it has specs against other gears. I have a feeling if you knew what to do you wouldnt have raised the above Q? My tranny was built in Germany and I hope to God I never have a problem with it.
