Default germany return

just got back from a week in Germany, I could not believe the number of Audi, BMW, VW and Mercedes that were flying on the Autobahn, my rental was a Merc. wagon, tried to get an A4/6 but no luck...A2-S8's.....VW Polo's to Passats, the Mercede's SMART and many more. Germans love their wagons, I never even saw 1 SUV! The only American car spotted was a Ford Escort...not many Porsche's either.

Default europe has no SUVs, mercedes was the first and it was unanimously ridiculed (more)

SUVs are too damn slow and sluggish to merge on and off the roads there. Not sufficiently manouverable either to avoid accidents on the autobahns. Additionally, if people there are going to run 15mpg, at $4/gallon, they rather have something that wil handle like a ducati and do 220mph.

Default I do not know which Europe you are talking about, but there is plenty of them in UK.

Little Rover being the most popular one...

Default True, I saw quite a lot of Cherokees and Wranglers in Frankfurt,

VW Golf Country, G-Wagens, Range Rovers, Nissan Pathfinders and Toyota Landcruisers. They are there, just not as common as in the 'burbs.

Default Reason Why (almost) no SUV's in Europe...

The infamous scandinavian Moose Avoidance Test.

It is well publicized in the EU whenever a vehicle fails to perform an emergency moose avoidance maneuver without tipping over (essentially a rapid 2 lane change at 35mph or more).

Most SUV's fail this test.
