Default HELP!!!!!!!

I'm trying to replace my rear brake pads on my 96 front track a4. Followed the Tech guide on replacing rear brakes. My piston is turning but not going down in the caliper. My pads where pretty low. There is a disclaimer on the tech guidd about this.

How do I get the piston to go down? Please help! Dealership is closed and I need my car for tomorrow. YOU ALL ARE ALL I GOT NOW!

Thanks!

Default use a c-clamp...and

after you have the piston turning... loose... push in with the c-clamp (turning end on the piston and solid part on back of caliper). That should do what you need it to do... at least it did for me.

Default Yep, C-clamp works. Here's more...

The c-clamp is not going to do it all though. Here's what I did. Put the c-clamp with the body of the clap against the back of the caliper and the turning part of the clamp on the piston. Ok, tighten the clamp down to apply some pressure but not too tight. Now, take a channel lock pliers and place it on the edges of the piston so that each jaw of the pliers is against one side. Be careful of the piston boot so you don't rip it. Now applying even pressure to the channel locks, turn the piston clockwise (I think). If you're doing it right, the c-clamp will begin to loosen. At that point, apply some more pressure from the c-clamp and continue turning until the piston is in. This has worked well for me on both my A4 and Passat.

Default You need to push HARD while turning clockwise. You can not just use a C clamp and try to push the

piston back in that way.
