I wouldn't do it if I were you. Expensive to maintain usually.

By and large, yes, it can be an expensive car to own.

Default depends... if you are mechanically inclined and feel comfortable tackling most repairs yourself

you can help offset the higher parts costs. If you are the type of guy who brings the car into the shop to have the windshield washer fluid filled then I'd get a honda.

Default thats a hard question to answer...

I haven't spent all that much in the way of major repairs... 200 for tie rods and 300 for timing belt, + $ for odds and ends like hoses and stuff. But, I've prob spent around 10k modding the car :-/ and in doing so have replaced many of the wear items (turbo, brakes, etc).

Default i havent had any costly problems, but if i did

i keep some cash in savings for a rainy day. parts can get super expensive, esp without a warranty. if you cant afford to maintain it, i'd look for something that would be easier on your wallet to maintain

Default Re: Help

If you're comfortable doing your own repairs, the cost can be reasonable. However, if you're comparing the repair costs to say....a toyota corolla or honda civic, yeah, it's expensive.

For a car in the 80-90k mileage range, if you can verify that the car was reasonably maintained and that they've already done the first timing belt change, it shouldn't be THAT expensive to own compared to most cars, but definitely above average.

Cheers,
