Help!
So I'm letting my friend drive my A4 tonight (he's done it before, knows how to drive stick, etc.) We pull up to a red light and some ricer starts revving on us. Against my pleas not to, my friend takes off with him and does something crazy (missed shifts i believe) and the car almost stalls out in over revs (never seen it redlined that far.)
After that the gears have been FUBAR's all night. I can't get the stick to go into 1st, so im taking off from stops in 2nd gear. Barely got my friend dropped off and got home. Shifting takes a huge amount of force to basically ram it into gear (though I only went up to third tonight.)
Any idea what happened/how to fix? I have this bad feeling that my tranny/clutch/everything is FUBAR'd and shot to heck.

he burned your clutch up. stocker can't handle that kind of launch
one of my friends favorite past times is going to local drag strip on friday night and watching audi/vw owners launch their 1.8Ts and stall out 20 feet down the stretch with a blown clutch and over reved motor. check it out some time.

Even though you told him not to race he continued to do so...and then destroyed your clutch...wow I'd have him hung...
Get him to fully cover the cost of labour and replacement of your clutch and never let him drive your car again...

I launched my 2.8q that way once. Clutch started slipping after the launch. Revs went up, speed didn't change. Shifted up to 5th, drive speed was only about 40km/hr, engine was almost red-lined. I pulled over and let it cool, that was 20,000 km ago, it is okay for now, but I'll never launch like that again with my stock clutch.
BTW why was a friend driving? Were you intoxicated, lazy, tired?
