HELP....2ND GEAR PROBLEM

i have a 2000 a4 1.8t 5-spd. just yesterday when i was shifting from 1st to 2nd, it felt really weird. the shifts aren't as silky smooth as before. it sort of lumps, and feels like it is rubbing against the side. has anyone else had this problem. if so how would i tell the service dept. thanks for your help.

My car does the same thing.
My least favorite thing about the car is the rough, long throw shifter.
