Help!!

I recently returned from my trip to Virginia (600 mile drive). I was on my way back and noticed a clicking noise bouncing off the walls on acceleration from the toll plaza. Its been clicking ever since. I have checked the search feature but i cannot seem to put together what the problem is from all the different answers. Any reason for the clicking?

Need more info. Car details for a start. Only on acceleration? Varies with speed? With rpm?

Sorry! 97 A4 1.8TQA. Happens during acceleration at low speeds between 2-4Krpms.

where does it seem to be coming from?

Wheel well?
Engine?

Does it while coasting at high speeds?
Occurs when you down shift at high speeds?
When you rev at a stand still?

It seems to be coming from under the engine or or under the shifter. It does not tick while coasting. It does not tick when I downshift. It does tick when I rev the car at stand still.
