Default Help!

Yeargh! Driving to a friend's house yesterday, my friend accidentally tapped my bumper with hers in middle of rush hour traffic. Sadly, it left a dime-sized gouge in my bumper at a 1/8th inch depth. It was such a light bump, but it hurt so much to look at the ding. When I first saw it, it looked like the Grand Canyon. Couldn't find much info on filling in gouges on bumpers. Is there something I can do myself? Or would it be better to have a bodyshop fix it? If bodyshop, can anyone recommend a good place in the Northern VA area? Thanks in advanced.

Default I would do two things...

1.) Tell your friend the friendship is over.

2.) Take it to a body shop. (have it done right).

Default Re: I would do two things...

LOL

I don't think I can ever execute the first one. (She's a huge Audi TT fan despite playing bumper cars with me and too cute to say no to)

But seriously, aer there things I should look out for? Such as how the body shop will fix it? Any ballpark figures for getting this dime-sized gouge fixed?

Thanks.

Default The cost of repairing a small dent such as you mention can vary (more)

a great deal from shop to shop. I had a similar problem, but the dent in my back bumper was self-inflicted. I backed up into a pole in a parking lot. The dent is lower down on my bumper. I got estimates that ranged from a low of $450.00 to a high of $600.00. One shop was going to fill it in and paint the bumper, the other was going to replace the bumper cover itself.

I decided to just live with it for a while. Over the next few weeks, I got so that I did not even notice it anymore. Now I have to look for it to see it. I took the money I saved from fixing it and got an APR chip!! I may eventually fix it, but it has fallen to about 89th on my things to do list. I know that it is hard, but give it a few weeks. If it still bothers you as much as it does now, take it to a good body shop and have it done by the pros.
