HELP
I have a 00 with a 1.8t.The service reminder was set incorrectly from the time I picked it up it read service at 8000 miles.I figured I would just wait till the first service and have them correct it to 5000 mile service interval.I brought my car in for service today and they stated that the reminder was set at the factory and that they were unable to change it.I think others have run into this how did your dealers correct it? thank you in advance.

I am pretty sure it is changable, but my dealer told me that it wasn't

Mine says the same thing! BUT
When I originally picked up my car it correctly said 5000 miles. When I went to pick it up after 5000(1st maintenance), it said 8000 miles. One of 2 things could of happned. Either dealer reset it wrong.(which means it is changeable) OR When I got the APR chip at 2 weeks before 1st maintenance, APR messed it up. I emailed APR 3 days ago, and they still haven't replied yet..

Dealer says not changable
I notice the same thing and took my car back in to have then reset it. They had the car for 45 minutes and could not change it. They said that the A4 is the only car with service every 5000 miles and the tool that they use to set the service intervals is preset from Audi for 8000 miles. They couldn't change it and were suppose to be contacting Audi about it.

I noticed this issue a couple weeks ago on a customer's car. She came in for her "8k" service @ 10k miles and was unaware that she should be on a 5k interval. I checked her reminder and it said 8k. I did some checking and found out that many of the '01 A4's came programmed like this. There is allegedly a way to change it with the VAG, though the changes don't take immediate affect. I'm waiting for the 2 cars that I've "modified" to return for their next service and I'll check them at that point.
BTW, have your dealer contact TechLine- the folks @ TechLine should be able to give them the details.
