Default Help!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been looking to buy an A4 for about 6 months, I can not afford a new one so I was looking at a 97 or 98 for about 22k to 25k with about 36 to 38k miles, well I found a 96 2.8Q with every option exept Bose radio the car is in mint condition no scratches and the interior looks and smells like new. The car was traded at a BMW dealer for a new BMW and they are asking 18k for it the only thing that scares me a litle is the car has 76k miles about 16k miles more then what a car for that year should. Right now I drive a Honda Accord 95 with 53k miles. I know there is no comparison with an Audi but the miles make me think twice. The Audi has a bad Right front strut or shock or busshings because when I drove the car it made a noice like a bad shock but the dealer told me they will fix it before I buy it and it will have a 1 year warranty. Please advice me what should I do. I forgot the car is Pearl 2.8Q manual.

Thank you
SantyJ.

Default Since 1996 was the 1st production year for the A4, I've heard that 96' have more problems.....

This is because the audi engineers didn't get to work out all the little bugs. Also I think the 96' 2.8L engine was only a 12 valve. Go for a 98' or 99' because you'll get a 30 vavle 2.8L which will breath alot easier. Also the 98' or 99' has a nicer looking interior. As for the suspension thing, sounds like that will be a pain in your *** trying to get them to fix it right and not having more problems down the road. Just my 2 cents

$18K is way too high for a '96 with that many miles.

Default I picked up 97' w/ 38k for $19,000+......

Just a note, I picked up a 1.8T, (which I feel is a better motor, just my opionion) for 19+, had to pay a little extra to have the car looked at by dealer. I bought it form a private party, wife's car, always garaged, never driven over mountain......basically babied. The right car for the right price is out there, just keep looking. Just a note, as others have mentioned, the first year of productionis always bad news. That 6cyl was changed ans other minor items up through 97'. I have worked with 2 of the big 3 car manufactures in the States, and Audi May do it differently, but I wouldn't trust CHRY&^(LER's first model year vehicles

Default 99.5 t qm silver/black 20k

I just bought the above car for 22k but it had an extended warranty for One Care which I redeemed for $1800 which puts my cost at $20,200. There are a couple things to \keep in mind: I looked for 5 months on Audiworld and Autoshopper.com for the best deal (had to have silver/black) and I bought a car without the sport package (intend to put Bilsteins....). However, the car only has 11k miles! The bottom line is - don't be in a hurry, I searched a 150 mile radius. I looked at 12 cars that passed my extensive phone interview. And above all - Find someone who is in dire situation and needs the cash!

One big decision was whether or not to buy from a dealer or a private sale. Audi's come with a very good 3 yr. 50k warranty, used Audi's come with an extended 5 yr. 75k warranty when purchased from a dealer (as long as it is not less than 24 months old? - can't remember the exact number). The extended warranty was very important to me when I was looking at dealers. The private sale that I ended up with was OK because it still had 2 yr. on the factory warranty.

Gotta go, my 4mo old is calling the shots and it's too hart to type with one hand
