HELP!

This is the post I thought I would never have to write. When I decided to lease a 97 A4 Quattro in summer of 97, I did so because Audi had supposedly rectified its past quality problems. Unfortunately it hasn't. In the last 10 months, the car has stranded me on the road 4 times: Once because the oil cooler seals failed leaking oil into the coolant, once because the alternator failed and twice because the headlight switch failed. In addition to these problems, the car has has been serviced for the check engine light coming on (4 times), the cd player (replaced twice), defective passenger door lock, defective coolant resevoir and three interior pieces. <p>Due to these problems, the dealer called Audi of America on my behalf and negotiated to get me out of the lease. Audi returned with an offer to let me out of the lease as long as I paid a lease termination fee and relinquished my security deposit. While this amounts to about $750.00 I do not think that I am liable for this amount because Audi provided me with a lemon, a fact that AOA admits to. <p>You guys helped me a great deal when I was buying my Audi, now I'm asking for help on how to get it out of my life. Should I take the deal and run? Should I threaten to go to court? Thanks.

Ask if you could lease another A4, perhaps a newer model year for the remainding of your lease, I mean, leasing is just like renting a car anyway, right?

I say negotiate as hard as you can with them, but unless the lease agreement says something about them being required to provide a non-lemon, then your only real recourse is the warranty and, possibly, your state's lemon laws.
