Help with CD player....I'm getting an error code of CD ERR03..what do I do to fix?

The radio headunit in my '01 2.8 has had the typical radio tuning gremlins since I drove it off the lot. Less frequently my CD player will skip to the end a track from somewhere in the middle of the track and just start playing the next track normally. I had my dealer order me a new headunit in February and still nothing!
Someone posted that if you call AoA and complain about the wait (after a suitable amount of time has passed since the dealer has placed the order for a new headunit) your dealer will suddenly get in a new unit for you shortly thereafter.
I assume a four month wait is enough time, and I think I'm going to call AoA today.
$35K car and the radio/CD doesn't work reliably!
