Help! CEL
Hey Guys,
So was comming home from my friend's today, spring break officially started today, and my car starts running really rough and shaking. And then the CEL starts flashing at me, but only when I go over say like 20+ mph, I didn't know what was going on. So I took some service roads and limped home, the car is shaking kinda bad, and runnin rough my friend who was following me told me my exhaust was shaking pretty bad. My first thought was coilpacks, because I've read some similar experiences....but as far as I remmebered they didn't affect 99.5's.....oh well my friend with a vag-com is going to come over when he gets off of work. But for now I thought I would post and hear some maybe suggestions as to what the problem is. THanks.

Its a coilpack.
VAG it to find out which one needs replacement, or if you don't have one, remove them one at a time and see which one doesn't make the car run rougher...that will be the one that is screwed. I'd VAG it though just to be on the safe side.

I've had to replace coil packs on my 98.5. It had the same symptoms.
They are $50 each at ECS Tuning.com or German Auto Parts.com
The VAG will tell you if that is the problem. If will be a misfire code. If so, switch that coil pack to another cylinder & if the misfire travels with it, that is your problem.

What codes
Will a coilpack throw, and what codes will an ignition amplifier throw? I'm not too worried about price, my Audi Assured ends at the end of this month. So as long as I take it to the Audi Delear before then, they should replace it....hopefully..
