Ok, here's the deal. I've got a 1.8T with the Wett chip. About six months after the chip was installed, I started getting a funny moaning/groaning noise when the engine was under load (i.e., anytime the pedal was pressed more than halfway to the floor.) The car also noticeably lags, and the acceleration seems less than it should be with the chip.<br>The dealer I took it too last heard the noise and said it sounded like a bad air filter. They replaced the filter (my ramair!) and said that it sounded ok to them. Unfortunately, the noise didn't change at all. They must not have even driven it after changing filters!<br>I was so mad I didn't take it back to the dealer, but paid for an independent Audi repair shop to have a look at it and see what they could find. According to them, the turbo and all the internal engine connections (hoses and whatnot) are fine. They said they got two fault codes from the computer. One was for something with the terminal (?), that I thought might have been the result of the chip. The other was something with the throttle position something or other (this was all told to me over the phone this afternoon). <br>They left the codes in the computer and wrote up what they found for me to show the dealer. The problem is, the symptoms I'm experiencing are present mainly when the chip is in. At least, they are much much more obvious that way. So, the question is, do I take the chip out when I take it to the dealer tomorrow, and risk them not hearing the noise, or do I leave it in and risk losing warranty coverage for this repair??<br>Any thought would be appreciated.
