Default Ah, that makes much more sense.

Ok, so now I see what you're trying to do with your current setup in mind.

If I were you, I would consider getting a 300/2, and powering the rear deck speakers from it, limiting them to the mid and low end frequencies.

Then, I would use your current 300/4 to power all four door speakers.

I don't know what speakers you have, but most 6.5s should handle 150 W.

What do you think?

Sounds like you have a nice setup, BTW -- you should have included a description in your first post

Default the fosgate??...

man that sucks. unfortunately rf is not what it used to be (ie early 90's punch series). i have never had a problem with the jl amp shutting off in my car or going into thermal protection, and i run the heck out of it. i am still blown away at what that tiny amp can do, and a single ten, i always get "so where is the sub amp". the 8's in kicks will be power hungry as can be, especially considering the enclosure size....

Default I see what you mean... but

I do not think 6.5s that handle 150 watts rms are easy to come by. Most 6.5s cannot even handle 100 watts rms. They can handle this only at peaks.

Maybe I am wrong. If so, can you list any 6.5s that handle 150 watts RMS.

Default I hate my Fosgate. I'm slightly embarassed to have it and call myself an audiophile...

It's a POS. It has a horrid linear response (20-20kHz) and loose, uncontrolled sound.

I can't wait until it blows out again. This time, I will not send it back to Fosgate, but rather buy another Xtant, which is, IMO, the nicest amp under $1000 I have ever heard. (Not to say there aren't many amps over $1000 that I drool over every once in awhile )

Default f- the multi subs, just get...

1 10w7 on that 500.1. one listen and it will all make sense. custom enclosure and 1 10w7. quite a few have commented on how the w7's seem to make everything better. they have an amazing freq response through the spectrum at any level. people have commented on how the overall sound of the car improves, not just the subs. you got the amp, no point in adding the extra room for 3 subs-------1 10w7.

Default there really is no point in buying another amp...

just run the 500.1 to a 10w7 in a custom enclosure and run the 300.4 to all the interior speakers. put the 2 front speakers on the front channels and the rear 4 on the rear channel (just run them in parallel, the amp will not even flinch under this load) huge difference between running multi subs on a channel vs multi mids and highs. i'm telling you, the subs in the front will not be worth the extra cash as much as that w7 will be. if anything, spend money to aim the front speakers better before adding more speakers up front. also, do you really need speakers in the rear doors, seems like a lot of fill that isn't necessary.

Default Hmmm.

You pose an interesting problem. To be honest, I'm still a bit thrown by the door speakers in the back -- I don't have those on my 2001

You're right -- only the 6.5" comps can handle 150 Watts.

Well, I guess this all depends on how important your current amps are to you. Could you get rid of one or both? Or do you definitely want to keep both?

You and your W7.... I'd have to agree with you, though. I think this might be the best option

Default if he was running a 1000.1 then i would say go for it...

those subs are beyond power hungry, but a 500.1 and a 10w7 will be plenty.
