Help w/ potential car problem.

I get a funny tap noise from my car. It happens when the weather is cold within the 1st 5 minutes of driving. Its a single tap that seems to resound off the windshield from the engine compartment (is it boot or bonnet). I got similar, louder taps in my saturn when my ignition cables were hooked up backwards, but this isn't caused by the same thing. Any ideas?

Have someone start your car cold for you while you have the hood popped...maybe that will help in locating the problem.
