HID Conversion....?

Hey everyone... i was thinking the other day about possibly converting my 98 Audi A4 2.8Q's headlight halogens to HIDs when i realized i dont know the first thing about how HIDs work... do i need to buy a whole new headlight assembly? or do I just get some HID bulbs? sorry if i sound like an idiot, i just want to know how HIDs work and what I need to get to make my car have HID headlights...thanks alot guys

you need bulbs and ballasts, and to make it worthwhile you need projector headlamp housings, too.

I just got the bulbs and ballasts....

Looks good if you ask me. I did the clear corner mod and am using the reguler non-xenon housings. Also I found this guy in canada that sells the Audi Parts(Phillips) bulbs and ballasts for $325. Email me if you want his email.

you already have projector lights, though

Casablanca doesn't have those stock on his 98. Reflector->Halogen Projector is a bigger difference than Halogen Projector->Xenon Projector

yes and no...

the projector is the part of your headlight that actually releases your low-beam light. In a projector the light focused through a lens (that round glass piece on ecodes and 99.5+ headlamps). In a reflector housing, it's just a raw bulb and reflective plastic in the housing that puts out light. The projector style is a lot brighter and more accurate, as well as a better looking housing. To get the projector low beams, you have to buy entirely new housings- AWE has the lowest price on ecode projector housings that I've seen.
