HKS BOV
Hi all
I know this topic's been covered in the past and i have run a search through the archives. But I'm looking at replacing my stock bpv with a HKS bov a member has for sale. Can yall convince me to get it/not get it? Will it horribly mess up my fuel ratios? Just that I like that whoosh sound - should i go with a turbo xs hybrid, TT bpv...etc...

so if you read why it is bad, why you still asking?
basically, the BPV is a closed system in that the air being blown off goes back into the intake tract... as the computer has already measured the air and knows how much air is in the system...
the BOV blows the air out into the general atmosphere (hence the noise)... the problem is that the computer doesn't know that, and assumes that the air is still in the system... so next time you get on the gas, the amount of air in the system already is not equal to what the computer thinks is there and hence your mix is off....
so that is why it is bad. But if it is more important that you have a cool sound... whatever you want. I would just suggest you upgrade your stereo instead.

If you want something similar try this one..
It sorta sounds like a BOV in a way..it has a quick chirp/whistle/whirr when it releases pressure and it won't make you run rich. It is still essentially a plumback, bpv whatever you want to call it. Ask James R. how it sounds, maybe he can describe it better. O and BTW, you don't have to service and lube it.

Hard to describe how your valve sounds...it does have a bit of a chirp...and a bit of a pfffffhhht
sound kinda lets out a little bit of a bark, but I think w/o the cone intake it would probably be damn near inaudible...I dunno I'd have to try one on my car to be sure ;-) When I had the Turbo5 intake kit my Bailey and Bosch valves both made a sorta darth vader like sound on and off throttle...it was pretty dope, I miss it...but I sure as hell don't miss the intake temps that were associated with that kit. There's no need for a real blow off valve on these cars...esp if you run some kind of open element intake you get PLENTY of noise.
