How do I remove the armrest?

My armrest recently broke. It is now locked in the full upright position, and the release button does not work. Feels like a spring or something inside the mechanism let go, since the button doesn't have the same "feel" to it as it used to.

So, I'd like to remove or open up the armrest. How do you get the darn thing off? Don't tell me I have to take off the whole lower center console?? :/

Hell, mine will only stay all the way down

If I raise it up, it comes ends up right back down after any weight is put on it.

Yeah, but...

I live 1.5 hours from the nearest dealer, and I have to take a day off of work to travel down there for appointments. (they are only open on weekdays) So for easy stuff, I'd rather fix it myself. Don't wanna take a day off work just to fix my armrest.

Maybe next time I go in for scheduled service, I'll ask them about the armest.

Yes the whole center console has to come out.=(

No it doesn't.

Take out the rear ashtray and you can see two of three bolts. Undo them.

Next pull out the drink holder directly under the armrest. It pulls out, just be forcefull. You shouldn't break anything. The third and last bolt is under there.
