How do I reset the codes?

I took out my GIAC chip because I'm taking my car to the dealer for service (car still under warranty). I heard the "fault-codes" have to be cleared because if they're not, they can tell if the car had a chip installed at one time. Here's my question: I know someone who works at a smog place, and she told me she can check my codes and clear them, but is that the same as having the codes cleared at a genuine GIAC dealer? My friend is free, but the GIAC dealer is not. thanks

GIAC would charge $30

30 bucks isn't much money...

i, personally, would go this route. it would give me more piece of mind having a reputable giac dealer do it. i knew if i had problems, they would know what to do. thats just me.
