Default How are emblems attached?

Does anyone out there know if the "rings" emblem on the rear hatch, the 1.8T emblem, the "Quattro" badge and any other badges on the cars are attached with double sided tape or do they have posts that secure them into holes in the sheetmetal? I'm considering de-badging my yellow '99 1.8T M Quattro Avant with the sport package. I'm also considering doing the emblems in black chrome instead of the bright chrome, depending on how the embles are attached. Opinions?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Anyone got any snow tires/wheels they're tring to get rid of?
-Matt in Cleveland (no snow yet!)

In my opinion, all-black emblems on a yellow car (or any light color) would look cool. Furthermore, if you blacked-out the chrome color around the front grill and painted the front grill circles yellow, that would be a plus. Good luck.
(I don't know how they're attached).
Tom
1.8TQMS Silver/Ecru

Default No holes! :-)

Emblems are attached by double sided, very sticky stuff! They can be removed with dental floss or fishing line, and then the area should be cleaned, polished, and waxed. The sooner you do it, the easier it will be. Otherwise, the outlines from the emblems will be very difficult to rub out. Have fun!
Charles
PS: There should be more info in archives and/or FAQ if you can find it.
