How much does chipping the 1.8T decrease engine life?

Does chipping the 1.8T cause problems in the long run, at 75 or 100 thousand miles? Has anyone even had one chipped this long? Please let me know. Thanks.

Check the archives and you'll see that the answer is "IT DEPENDS" on how you drive, who's chip you use etc. etc. etc. I've heard people claim ludicrous #'s on both side of the scale from 65K miles to 300K Miles but anyway you slice it it's a risk. You could get lucky and up with a sweet upgrade that will never give you a problem and you may get a combination causing pinging and other problems.

The damage is done at the end of the engine life cycle so who cares?

The last few miles of an engines life are worthless anyway - kinda like cigarette smoking ;-)

I think very little IF you let the car warm up before, cool down after, and maintain it properly.
