How to reset airbag light with vagcom (first time user).
hi there, i've just bought this cable and downloaded the V409 software from Ross tech. Is it pretty straightforward to reset the airbag light? Any instructions you can give me? Never used the s/w before and don't want to mess things up by mistake!
I will be using the cable maker's drivers as per their recommendation in the listing, but with the Ross tech s/w.
I've had for a few years now on and off the airbag light coming on in the cluster. It's always the passenger airbag that throws the code, the dealer's told me. I've gone there a few times to fix, but they can't diagnose, and just clear the code and put contact cleaner on the connector, and usually i'm good to go for another 6 mos to a year. Then, sometimes when moving the seat all the way back or down, the light comes back on! AAARRGH! whats wrong with the ebay cable? And you don't have to pay for the rosstech license
ways around everything nate. My friend uses completely free software... There really is nothing wrong with the ebay cable if you know what you're doing.
Like i said before... your post "i would've just bought the real cable and been done with it" doesn't help him... even if he had the real cable.. all he wants to know is how to reset the light.

that's like someone posting up "im having cylinder misfires" and you respond with... "summer tires don't work well in snow"
one doesn't have to with the other. His cable isn't effecting his ability to clear the airbag light.. what is affecting it.. is he doesn't know how to do it.

you sure i can't reset it without a license? function 05 Clear Fault Codes is yes for shareware vers
there's nothing illegal about what I'm doing, so i'm confused by your comments. they allow you to get the software free, and offer these differences as to why you should pay for a license. I should be able to clear the code with the free license, no?
thanks for the help, and i knew i was taking my chances with the $10 cable, but figured for that much $, I have nothing to lose as this for me will be a single use type item. i don't really plan on using the cable and software much, as i haven't had a need for it in the 7 years so far other than the occasional time that would have been good to have...<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/vag-functions.html">Diff. b/w free and pay versions</a></li></ul>

and one guy who said he used VWTOOL software.
so, would you be able to tell me how to do so and if Nate's right about me not being able to reset it even w/o a pay license? (see my reply to his post)
