How serious is this problem?
I was checking out this 98 2.8 for sale, the guy said that really the only thing wrong with it is that the upper oil pan gasket leaks. he said its just a silicone seal, not a real gasket, and requires 4-6 hours of labor to fix, so about 350-500 bucks to fix. how serious a problem is it, and how hard is it to do it myself?

you can do it yourself. :) basically drain oil, remove pan(might require disconnecting one side of
sway bar), clean existing sealant off both sides, add sealant, replace pan, torque to spec, replace oil filter(if it needs to be) fill oil back up done.
