Default How to tell when something is wrong???
I am getting pretty bad gas mileage, I have a 1998.5 a4 1.8tq. I was reading different threads and I am not sure how to determine what might be wrong. I do have a slight knock, oil is ok though, how do I check the MAF to see if it is bad and how do I clean it??? What should I use. How much is a new MAF??

Default Its on the list, takes $$$ Isn't there another way to see whats going on?
How do you safely clean the MAF? I think that would be a good start.
