Huge Auto Transmission leak
96 A4 Q with the V6. 5 Speed automatic transmission. Transmission fluid came pouring out last night...no warning. Barely made it home. Get under it. I see no leaking in the cooling lines that run from the radiator. Fluid all over the pan...way up front on the tranny. I might guess front seal, but isn't that differential (gear) oil up front right behind the fly wheel? And a seal would start leaking gradually, not all of the sudden....right?
Any ideas of where fluid would just suddenly drop out of the car?

Front seal (yes there is fluid up front) diff gear oil is separate - or cracked torque converter.
Could be where the cooling lines connect to the trans or it blew a plug/connector out due to excess pressure from a clogged vent line.
Clean it all off with simple green or something and try and pin-point the leak.

I have 236,000 miles and have never changed the filter. Could a clogged filter send the fluid out of the tranny?
Bentley says I need a special tool to fill that tranny. Can I just force a hose up into the little fitting?

Sounds like your main seal is gone more than likely a result of pump failure
