I have a question
I've owned a 1998 A4 smq for 6 years.
I bought the car with 72k miles, It currently has 90k miles.
At 75k I did the t-belt and h20 pump.
about the same time the air flow sensor failed and I replaced it.
Lately the cars rpm will jump up to about 1500 rpm for a sec or two when I turn the car on after a warm start.
this morning the check engine light came on.
I went ahead and replaced the air filter and sprayed the air flow sensor with some crc cleaner.
After I started the car three times the cel went away.
I've never had the cel come on before this morning.
Should I be concerned, Should I have it read, or just keep rolling ?
thanks for any suggestions.

Can I buy a VAG program and cable for my laptop computer and read it myself ?
Or, buy the entire VAG that does the logs as well. Or, just buy a license for $99 with the $20 cable, but you won't get any support from Ross-Tech should something go wrong.
You'll probably need the download the drivers for it to work with a USB. search my user number. I posted the link to them that worked for me.

http://www.ross-tech.com/</a

btw, I'm very imprest with your cars set up.
I've considered tuning my A4,(its bone stock) but at this point I'm considering replacing it with a B6 or b7 4 cylinder.
thanks again,

My 2001 dodge 3500 TD cel comes on every 50 starts and stays on for another 10 starts.
The truck has 218k miles and 20k on the trans which shifts smooth as butter.
when I had the cel read it came back with 15 codes all for the transmission.
I'm not concerned or I guess I just don't care any more.
