ignition switch
Just became an Audi owner with a 96 A4 2.8 The ignition switch will stick and needs replaced. It seems as there are others who've replaced their own. I've installed remote starts and alarms for a local car shop here so I want to do this myself. Are there any special "Audi" tools or just the average toolbox? I've seen a few different parts websites with different prices. Where do you recommend? Any extra advice would greatly be accepted!!!

Get it from your local VW dealer. Its a very easy replacement taking me 20 minutes start
to finish.
First and foremost though: BE SURE TO DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY! Also, besure you have your radio code (if stock HU) before you disconnect the battery otherwise the dealer charges a pretty penny to get it.
You will need an allen wrench to remove the airbag, and a very small slotted screwdriver once you get to the switch on the column.

My 98.5 2.8 had the same problem. I used a graphite based lubricant, and the problem went away completely for several months until my poor baby was totalled
