Initial startup engine tick....normal?

Maybe I'm being overly ****, but since I've done my timing belt a couple wks back...I guess I've been looking for things to go wrong. My engine has always been somewhat noisy, but on initial startup...for probably about 10mins, I get a bit of a tick...but nothing abnormally loud that is audible with the hood closed. My oil level is fine. I STFA, and heard that the lifters could be an issue....I just wanted to hear your input to see if you guys think this is normal.

btw the car runs perfect, no idling issues or CELs. TIA

From my initial experience...

with when I got my Audi I thought they were loud as well at start up... I think its normal? Definatly keep an eye out and listen to others to get an idea. You never know. Hard to make judgements online about noises.

I think the AWM's are a little loud... I've got the same thing.

i put a can of Justice Brother's into the sump with my last oil change, so I'm going to see if that helps once I change it out again.

Spec'd oil pressure at idle on AWM engines (warm engine) is at least 1.3 bar.

or it could be the cam chain tensioner. I still haven't gotten the nads to go and do this though. don't want to go through that whole pain in the **** job if that's not the problem.

yea i might try a diff oil visc. nxt oil change...any suggestion on what would be good kenny?

I'm tempted to pull everything apart again, and double check my markings...but at this point I'm starting to think it's not the timing.

1 tooth of timing is going to be about 6-8 degrees of timing retard

you'd know if you were off, the car would not run right. poor gas mileage, shaky performance, etc.

I run Mobil-1 0w40 in the warm months, and 5w30 in the cold months, OEM filters. Changing from 5w30 to 0w40 quieted things down a little in the summer, but it's still noticeable.
