Intercooling...
For a K03 w/APR 1.0 bar software, is it worth bothering with a FMIC? Cool air has been on my mind a lot lately and I was considering the options (and I have searched). The S4 wheel liner is a more budget friendly option for air flow. If I don't plan to upgrade my turbo or software any time soon, is there really an advantage with the FMIC over wheel liner? This advantage would have to be large enough to justify $800-900 + install headache over $30.

i've got the spp fmic on my 1.8t.
i put it on because i'm concerned with pinging after getting a giac x-chip. honestly, i have no idea whether it was worth it or not. it definitely works as the inlet side of the fmic is much hotter than the outlet. it gets pretty hot here in california, so i guess it's worth it when i run my car hard or when i'm in traffic. and yeah, the install was a pain. my bumper never quite got back on correctly. another thing to consider is that it looks so dang nice.

I know it looks nice, but I try not to look modified....
I have a strange attitude towards upgrades. I don't like people to know what I've done by looking. I figure the wheel liner would be a stealth upgrade, like the chip. If it compares to a FMIC in my situation, then that's for me. Especially since it's easier to install and much cheaper. I'm in NJ, so I see more cold than hot weather. I guess it's not really worth it for me. Thanks.

The wheel liner may not even be worth $30
For $30, it is a pretty low risk mod in terms of investment cost, but I am not sure that it will yield any noticeable results. You can't compare the wheel liner to a FMIC. They are in a completely different ball park.
