I've done the C-Pillar with carpet cleaner
and it turned out with no problems - I dampened it first, sprayed the carpet cleaner on a towel, and lightly brushed it. Wet it again with a clean wet rag and let it dry in the shade. Removed water stains and no fading of the material.
I would suggest starting with warm water and a mild soapy solution. Finish with clean warm water. see how it turns out before using more agressive solutions like carpet cleaner.
